Virtual Financial Officer, aka Bookkeeper
Job Type: Full-time
Description:

You say bookkeeper, we say Virtual Financial Officer. Why? You may be asking yourself. Because the reality is bookkeepers are more than just a checkbook ledger. They are trusted advisors to their clients, an extension of clients’ teams, and what makes accounting offices go around. Lawhorn CPA Group has known that for a while now, so we got creative and came up with the title Virtual Financial Officer – VFO for short—which we feel is more encompassing of what a bookkeeper’s responsibilities are. Plus, it makes you sound wicked cool.

Lawhorn CPA Group, LLC is looking for a qualified individual to join us as a Virtual Financial Officer, aka bookkeeper.

Here’s the stuff you should know.

Ideal candidates would have 5+ years of experience, but if you have some experience, we’d still love to hear from you.

Once hired, you’ll work closely with the Director of VFOs to train for the role, including learning the software we use, how to train clients and more. You’re also encouraged to communicate your goals and areas of interest to the Director of VFOs. Continuing education is important to Lawhorn as it’s part of how we stay current on new tax and accounting strategies, so candidates will be expected to participate in continuing education.

Our VFOs are the bread and butter of our operations. The VFO service offers a complete back-office solution for small businesses looking for accounting and bookkeeping needs. VFOs work closely with our clients to ensure their accounts are up to date for real-time reporting.

What’s that take? Let us give you some insight into the day-to-day for a Lawhorn VFO.

  • Manage annual client service revenue by fulfilling VFO Customer Service Agreements (CSG) engagements.
  • Manage VFO services for clients including bill pay/record sales; accounts payable and bank deposits; accounts receivable; cash management; franchisee/financial reporting; reconcile accounting including bank; checking, credit card; expense claims; and Pay-Pal accounts
  • Use Practice to manage your task list
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all GL accounts
  • Set clients up in Xero & provide training as needed
  • Back account set up and conversion balances
  • Interact with clients to obtain pertinent information and data needed to furnish work product, including research of issues and questions, and advising clients appropriately
  • Prepare monthly VFO adjustments and reporting, including advanced reporting
  • Prepare and/or proof sales tax and liquor tax returns, local tax returns, TPPSs, Payroll tax returns and year-end payroll reporting
  • Provide assistance as needed to team and Partners, including support with special projects for Management and Partners as needed.
  • Identify clients for potential upsell of the Firm’s service offerings
  • Identify, initiate, and secure annual VFO CSG change orders for existing clients

Here’s how we support you:

  • Group health insurance plans, with Dental/Vision options
  • 401K with up to 4% employer match
  • Short-Term Disability on us – yes 100% on us.
  • Life Insurance on us – again yes, 100% on us.
  • Educational assistance/professional development assistance
  • Flexible schedule
  • 20 days of PTO annually & holiday pay

The tax and accounting industry can be crowded and overwhelming. Lawhorn CPA strives to differentiate our firm as a place for learning and growth with flexibility in your job and a great team culture.

Apply today to join our team! We’d love to have you!
