L&A’s biggest
change in principle over the last few years has been our adoption of
what we term the VPA, or Value Price Agreement. A VPA is a roster of
services from which a client may choose exactly what he or she needs.
As opposed to the traditional hourly rate associated with accounting
work, each service has an exact value attached to it, and the
accountant and client agree to a specific price. This way, a large bill
will not surprise the client. Plus, if we take too long with the work
we promised, the client is not over-charged as can be the case with
hourly rates.
L&A relies on
Donna Lawhorn in the billing department to make the all-important
connection between our concept VPA and software. Without her tireless
linking of each VPA to our software, the firm could not operate a
business, much less reach its goals.
Donna’s background is
as diverse as the rest of us. She graduated from Carson Newman with a
BS in Biology and a minor in English. She earned a teaching certificate
for high school science and home schooled her son, Matt, which she
considers her greatest achievement. She joined L&A in 1998 and
shortly thereafter headed up the administrative department. In 2006,
she was coaxed into marrying Jeff Lawhorn, our chief, and the rest is
nerd history.
Donna kicks butt in racket ball. She craves martinis and obsesses over
headgear. Like so many of the Lawhorn team, she is an avid dancer,
particularly the swinging type. And should you think that her hobbies
lack adventure or danger, we’ll have you know she can really tear it up
on a four-wheeler.
